Penck's model of cycle of erosion
WebPenck's Cycle of Erosion Walther Penck, a German geomorphologist, who tried to explain the process of development oflandfonns in fluvial geomorphological region. He presented this model in his work Morphological Analysis for the expression of landscape development. Penck's model is thought as an opposite efforts to the Davis' model. WebThe landform is the result of the ratio between the intensity of the endogenetic process( i.e rate of upliftment) and the exogenetic process ( i.e erosion or removal of materials), irrespective of time.
Penck's model of cycle of erosion
Did you know?
The geographic cycle, or cycle of erosion, is an idealized model that explains the development of relief in landscapes. The model starts with the erosion that follows uplift of land above a base level and ends, if conditions allow, in the formation of a peneplain. Landscapes that show evidence of more than one cycle of erosion are termed "polycyclical". The cycle of erosion and some of its associated concepts have, despite their popularity, been a subject of much criticism. WebDec 1, 2024 · Metre-scale sedimentary cycles are the basic stratigraphic building blocks of the succession, and are interpreted as high-frequency sequences with an estimated duration of 100,000 years.
